Ring 31 Report for February 2007
Sunday, February 11th, 2007Welcome to another edition from the Frozen Capitol of Wisconsin. Looks like Mother Nature finally decided to give us some winter. This months meeting was great for getting back into the swing of a new year. Those in attendance were ready for magic and a fun new year with lots of hope for building our club. When supper was finished, we started discussing upcoming lectures and the new elections for the year. I will be staying on as president since no one wanted to take the reins this year but we will still have elections next month. We are trying to get some of the old club routines going again like having a family night when we induct the new officers and reaching out to the members of our club who have not attended in a while. Many ideas where shared and we hope to get them into action this year.
Once the business was finished a few of us were prepared to bring some magic to the meeting. Our first perform was a young man who unfortunately this reporter forgot to ask his name but he did a wonderful rope routine that encompassed the professor cheer routine and a great cut and restored rope act. Both were well received with laughs on cue and magic to all. Next up was yours truly with a demonstration of the new dream gimmick for the zombie, just a try at showing what is new from the young minds of magic. Looked good but sure wished I had used some music to cover the squeaks from the gimmick and the ball actually rolling off the silk at the end was a fine way to end a new routine. Everyone still enjoyed the chance to see a different version of an old effect. Next meeting I hope to show it with music and a better routine to make this a greater act. After this the rest of the group mingled together to make each other forget the cold and winter we have here. Proving that we really do enjoy magic and that our art will keep us warm with the enjoyment of each others brotherhood and sharing.
If you are ever here on the second Sunday of the month please feel free to meet with us at 5pm at JT Whitney’s.
